THE MODERNIST BUILDING

The Woods Hole Institute was born out of a desire to bring community members together with live music and art, and to create an atmosphere that would encourage informal discussions about science. The Modernist building in which the WHI is housed, designed by Thomas Hiksdal, contains galleries, studios, meeting and performance spaces.

Since 2006 the WHI has been the site of numerous concerts, poetry readings, science talks and gallery shows, as well as benefits for local non-profit organizations.
